Embria Health Sciences Recognized For Economic Impact on Greater Des Moines Area
36,000-Square-Foot Facility Makes Big Impression on Ankeny
ANKENY, Iowa, October 24, 2007—- Embria® Health Sciences, a raw material manufacturer of science-backed natural ingredients for the human nutrition market, has been presented with the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s 2007 Economic Impact Award in recognition for the building of its new headquarters facility in Ankeny, Iowa.
Embria’s 36,000-square-foot office space and manufacturing plant sits on 5.1 acres in Ankeny’s “bioscience corridor”. The company was previously based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by the Partnership for Embria’s positive
impact on the Des Moines area,” said Paul Faganel, Embria Health
Sciences president. “We have strong roots in Iowa and are proud to call
Ankeny ‘home’.”
Embria invested $10 million into its new facility, utilizing resources from all over Iowa, including the hiring of Muscatine- based Stanley Consultants to design the building. The company currently has 9 employees and plans to hire a quality assurance manager by year’s end and two more manufacturing employees in 2008. As a manufacturer of EpiCor®, an immune health ingredient for human consumption, Embria has taken extra steps to ensure that its facility is voluntarily compliant with the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) put in place this year by the FDA. Admirable business practices run in the Embria family, as its parent company, Diamond V® Mills, was recently awarded the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce 2007 Howard Hall Excellence in Business Award.
